3/9/24 – We are approaching the 13th anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear meltdown event that occurred on March 11, 2011. No one is talking about it anymore, or very few people. One man who has spoken out from the beginning has an update to the situation. He says the nuclear industry will end all life on the planet. Here’s his latest report. I’ll be covering this in my weekly methane report on Sunday.

3/12/24 – From NSIDC:  Antarctic sea ice extent ties for second lowest in satellite record

“Antarctic sea ice has likely reached its minimum extent for the year, at 1.99 million square kilometers (768,000 square miles) on February 20, 2024, according to scientists at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) at the University of Colorado Boulder. The 2024 minimum is tied with 2022 for second lowest in the 46-year satellite record. The record low occurred last year, with the ice reaching 1.79 million square kilometers (691,000 square miles) on February 21, 2023.”

3/12/24 – From NSIDC:  Leaping toward spring

“During February, Arctic sea ice extent increased along the lower 10 percent interdecile value, with the average monthly extent tied for fifteenth lowest in the satellite record. Temperatures were above average over the central Arctic, but still well below freezing. Antarctic sea ice extent reached its seasonal minimum, tied for the second lowest extent in the satellite record.”

3/24/24 – From Space Weather:

STRONG X-CLASS SOLAR FLARE:

Yesterday, the sun produced a solar flare so strong, it took two sunspots to make it. Sunspots AR3614 and AR3615 exploded in tandem on March 23rd (0130 UT), directing their fire straight at Earth. A National Solar Observatory telescope in Australia recorded the double blast:
CME IMPACT SPARKS SEVERE GEOMAGNETIC STORM: Arriving hours earlier than expected, a CME struck Earth’s magnetic field on March 24th at 1437 UT. The impact opened a crack in our planet’s magnetosphere and sparked a severe G4-class geomagnetic storm–the strongest since Sept. 2017.
