10/1/24 – from Spaceweather:
SIGNIFICANT X-CLASS SOLAR FLARE:
Earth-orbiting satellites just detected the second-largest solar flare of Solar Cycle 25 (Oct. 1st @ 22:20 UTC). The X7.1-class blast came from Earth-facing sunspot AR3842, and it may have hurled a CME in our direction. Confirmation awaits fresh data from SOHO coronagraphs.

10/3/24 – from Spaceweather: X9.1 Class Solar Flare Today
THE STRONGEST FLARE YET: Sunspot AR3842 exploded again today, producing the strongest solar flare of Solar Cycle 25 so far.
TWO CMEs ARE HEADING FOR EARTH: Confirmed: Two CMEs are now heading for Earth following consecutive X-flares (X7.1 and X9.1) from active sunspot AR3842. According to NOAA and NASA models, the first will strike Earth on Oct 4th and the second (more potent) will strike on Oct. 6th. The dual impacts could spark strong G3-class geomagnetic storms with auroras at mid-latitudes

10/31/24 – from Spaceweather:
ANOTHER X-CLASS SOLAR FLARE:
Active sunspot AR3878 erupted again today (Oct. 31st @ 2120 UTC), producing an X2-class solar flare. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory captured a spray of hot plasma emerging from the blast site.
A pulse of extreme ultraviolet radiation from the flare ionized the top of Earth’s atmosphere, causing a shortwave radio blackout over the Pacific Ocean. Ham radio operators may have noticed loss of signal below 25 MHz for as much as 45 minutes after the flare.
